Course Overview:
Introduction to Java(TM) introduces the Java(TM) Programming Language
to those who have never programmed in Object-Oriented languages,
or to those who have limited prior programming experience. Introduction
to Java(TM) gives a thorough introduction to the Java(TM) Language
and Object Oriented theories and design, as well as a detailed
introduction to programming concepts, structures and common
practices.
What You'll Learn:
You will gain a thorough understanding of the Java(TM)
Programming Language, its syntax, usage and context. This course
will serve as a complete introduction to the Java(TM)
Programming Language for those who have never programmed before,
or who have limited programming experience. It will thoroughly
cover all of the background information necessary for understanding
Java(TM); students need not have any prior programming
experience. By the end of this course you will be able to build
complete and full-featured applications in Java(TM),
using the standard APIs. You will also gain a thorough understanding
of how Java(TM) is used in a wide variety of applications
and gain a strong understanding of design principles that will
help you to build flexible and re-usable applications. You will
gain a strong background in Object-Oriented principles and techniques,
such as inheretence, polymorphism and encapsulation. This course
covers the Java(TM) 2 Standard Edition Software Development
Kit, version 1.4.
Prerequisites:
Students should feel very comfortable using a computer and have
a working knowledge of either Linux/Unix or Microsoft Windows.
Students should be skilled at solving technical and analytical
problems, though no prior programming experience is required.
