Course Overview:
Introduction to Server-Side Java(TM) for Programmers
introduces the Java(TM) Programming Language, Servelts
and Java Server Pages to the experienced programmer. Introduction
to Server-Side Java(TM) for Programmers is a fast-paced
practical introduction to the Java(TM) Programming
Language. This course thoroughly covers the core Java(TM)
Language, including exception handling, networking and File
I/O.
What You'll Learn:
After completing our Introduction to Server-Side Java(TM)
for Programmers class, you will be able to develop Java(TM)
applications with a sense of good design and a thorough understanding
of the Java(TM) Language, its syntax and available
packages, as well as a thorough understanding of Object Oriented
programming concepts and strategies, such as inheritance, polymorphism
and encapsulation. By the end of this course you will be competent
in Exception Handling, File access with Java(TM) I/O,
Multithreading, Tomcat Configuration, Servlets, and Java(TM)
Server Pages. You will learn the fundamental principles of Object-Oriented
design, as well as common design strategies for Servlets and
JSPs, focusing on the Model-View-Controller Design Pattern.
Prerequisites:
In order to complete this course, students should have at least
6 months programming experience, preferrably in an Object-Oriented
language. Basic knowledge of HTML and XML is helpful, but not
required. This is a fast-paced course that assumes an underlying
understanding of common programming structures and concepts.
Students without prior Object Oriented programming experience,
or students who prefer a slower pace, should consider our Introduction
to Java(TM) class, followed by our Servlets and JSP
class.
