Course Overview:
Our Building Web Applications with Servlets, JSP and Struts
course will introduce you to programming Servlets and JSPs,
a core part of the Java 2 Enterprise Edition(TM) (J2EE(TM)),
as well as the Apache Foundation’s Struts Framework. This
course covers the Servlet and JSP specifications in depth, as
well as the Struts tag libraries and their implementation. This
course focuses on design strategies for integrating Servlets,
JSP and Struts, primarily using the Model-View-Controller (MVC)
pattern. This course is filled with design strategies and practical
tips to make your development process with Struts simpler and
more efficient. All of our examples and exercises present real-world
scenarios and solve problems encountered in J2EE(TM) and Struts-based
applications.
What You'll Learn:
You will gain a thorough understanding of Servlets, Java(TM)
Server Pages, and their context within the larger whole of J2EE(TM),
the Struts tag libraries and configuration files, and an understanding
of J2EE Architecture via Struts. You will learn practical strategies
for designing J2EE(TM) applications for maximum performance
and flexibility. You will gain a thorough understanding of the
foundations to Server-Side Java(TM) programming, including Protocols
and Markup Languages, XML configuration files, and configuration
of the Tomcat Servlet Engine. You will leave class not only
with a thorough understanding of how to program with Servlets
and JSPs, and how to implement applications using the Struts
Framework, but also with practical examples that will benefit
your future applications.
Prerequisites:
This course requires Java(TM) Programming Language experience
and a thorough understanding of the language syntax and features.
You should also be familiar with the World Wide Web as a user.
Knowledge of HTML is useful but not required.
